Here’s good news for farmers!!! Our Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a new scheme named as Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana. It is launched on 13th January 2016. It is replaced by the scheme National Agricultural Insurance Scheme and Modified NAIS. This scheme is for the insurance of the crops. Our 75% population live in rural area and their only source of income is agriculture. If due to any natural calamities if their crop is destroyed they have no source of income that’s why there are many cases of farmer’s suicide. To protect farmers government start this insurance scheme. It protects them from the loss. Benefits of PM Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY)
Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana scheme is very beneficial for farmers as well as for other people. Because all food which is provide in all over the country is farming by our farmers if they are secure and crops are secure so ever one get every food at a reasonable price. PM Fasal Bima Yojana provides insurance cover at very low premium. It secures farmers from the natural calamities. It is also beneficial to stabilize the income of the farmers. It ensures the farmers to flow of credit in the agriculture field. It also decreases the suicide rate of farmers. They also adapt new and modern technique for farming.
PM Crop Insurance Eligibility:
Government provides two type of coverage to farmer compulsory coverage and voluntary coverage. In the notified area those farmers who have a Crop Loan account/KCC account and during the crop season its credit limit is renewed /sanctioned for the notified crop. Those farmers are also covered in compulsory coverage to which the Government will decide. Those farmers who are not covered in compulsory coverage and not have a renewed account are covered under voluntary coverage.
Some highlights of PM Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY)
A uniform premium will be paid by the farmers. For all khrib crops the premium is 2% and for all khrif crops premium is 1.5%. For commercial and horticultural crops the premium is paid by the farmers is 5%. The entire balance premium is paid by the government even If the balance premium is 90% it is also paid by the government.
Farmers will get full amount if their crops will destroyed now there is no capping. Modern technologies are used for the crops such as remote sensing to cut the crops. In the new scheme of the insurance approximately about 75-80% subsidy will provide to the farmers. This scheme will be applied in the notified area.
